Two Research Associate positions

Both positions are to be filled within the framework of the research project "Football as basis for social cohesion in Europe (FANZinE)" funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research.

 

Research Associate
Full-time employment (100%) – reference number: 05521-02-wiss-ml

Your responsibilities:

  • Planning, implementation and analysis of a quantitative text analysis of online media in four European countries; coordination of the academic partners in the participating countries and implementation of the German part of the study.
  • Planning, implementation and evaluation of an online survey in four European countries; coordination with an external service provider (data collection) and analysis of the survey data
  • Coordination of the academic project partners in the four participating countries, as well as contribution to the analysis and synthesis of the research results of the overall project
  • Contribution to the planning, implementation and analysis of an interview study with experts from the field of football and fan culture in four countries
  • Presentation and publication of findings for the academic community, the expert public and practitionersIn addition to the general legal requirements, applicants must fulfil the employment requirements specified in § 57 of the Rhineland-Palatinate Higher Education Act (Hochschulgesetz Rheinland-Pfalz).

Your profile:

  • very good university degree in the social sciences and, ideally, a doctoral degree in the social sciences, preferably in the field of political science and/or international relations
  • Experience in collecting and analysing text data (computational text analysis), preferably in the field of print or online media
  • Experience in conducting quantitative surveys and analysing cross-sectional data
  • Interest or previous knowledge in the field of the politics of football and actors in sports politics or being prepared to familiarize oneself with this field
  • very good language skills in German and English. Additional language skills in a project language (Spanish, Polish, Norwegian) would be an advantage
  • Interest or previous experience in the field of qualitative interviewing and data analysis as well as the willingness to participate in the acquisition of third-party projects are highly preferred
  • Creativity, the ability to work independently, as well as the ability to cooperate and work in a team

 

 

Research Associate
Part-time employment (80-85%) – reference number: 03021-02-wiss-ml

Your responsibilities:

  • Planning, implementation and data analysis of an interview study with experts in the field of soccer and fan culture within four countries; coordination of the project partners in the participating countries and implementation of the study in Germany
  • Coordination and implementation of the knowledge transfer: development of policy options for actors in the field of soccer and fan culture, planning and implementation of project workshops with practitioners
  • Contribution to the planning, implementation and evaluation of a quantitative text analysis of online media as well as an online panel survey in four European countries
  • Contribution to the analysis and synthesis of the research results of the overall project
  • Presentation and publication of findings for the expert public and practitionersIn addition to the general legal requirements, applicants must fulfil the employment requirements specified in § 57 of the Rhineland-Palatinate Higher Education Act (Hochschulgesetz Rheinland-Pfalz).

Your profile:

  • Experience in designing and conducting qualitative studies, interviewing and computer-assisted data analysis (e.g. MaxQDA, Atlas.ti)
  • Interest or previous knowledge in the field of the politics of football and actors in sports politics or being prepared to familiarize oneself with this field
  • Experience in the transfer of scientific knowledge into practice as well as experience in the planning and implementation of events and in moderating diverging interests and groups
  • very good language skills in German and English. Additional language skills in a project language (Spanish, Polish, Norwegian) would be an advantage
  • Interest or previous experience in the field of quantitative text analysis or survey data analysis as well as the willingness to participate in the acquisition of third-party projects are highly preferred
  • Creativity, the ability to work independently, as well as the ability to cooperate and work in a team

The positions are paid according to EG 13 TV-L and is to be filled as soon as possible, for a fixed term until 31.03.2024. The possibility for individual further qualification is given.
