Jean Monnet Chair for Arne Niemann

Prof. Arne Niemann has been awarded a Jean Monnet Chair by the European Commission, for his achievements in teaching and researching European integration.

Jean Monnet chairs can be awarded worldwide in order to enable chair holders to expand and deepen teaching on European Integration Studies. The chair holder for International Relations at Johannes Gutenberg University will focus in his Jean Monnet Programme particularly on European Union external policy.

Amongst others, the 3 year grant will be used to establish the lecture series "EU External Policy: practitioners’ and insiders’ perspectives", to host Jean Monnet Roundtable Debates and to extend the EU simulation, Model European Union (MEUM), to local schools.
